ASC People is recruiting for an experienced Weld Engineer to join a growing manufacturing organization in the Pittsburgh area. The successful candidate will work closely with manufacturing, design engineering, quality, and program management teams to develop welding procedures, qualify welding processes, and ensure products meet the highest industry and customer standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and qualify welding procedures and welder qualification records.
  • Determine appropriate welding techniques and procedures for a variety of manufacturing applications.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing personnel and Weld Development Lab Technicians.
  • Support welding operations involving GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW, and PTAW processes.
  • Interpret material specifications and apply welding metallurgy principles to resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve welding engineering issues related to production and repair work.
  • Research and implement new welding technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality teams throughout project development.
  • Participate in engineering reviews, supplier qualification activities, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of welding engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of welding codes including ASME Section III, ASME Section IX, NAVSEA, or related industry standards.
  • Experience with welding processes including GTAW, FCAW, SAW, GMAW, SMAW, or PTAW.
  • Knowledge of carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, nickel alloys, copper alloys, and dissimilar metal welding.
  • Previous experience as a Weld Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or Materials Engineer.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and technical documentation skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
