ASC People is recruiting for an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join a world-class engineering and manufacturing organization in the Pittsburgh area. This leadership position is ideal for an accomplished electrical engineer with expertise in rotating equipment, electric motors, generators, electromagnetic analysis, and advanced engineering design.

The successful candidate will lead engineering teams in the development, analysis, testing, and optimization of mission-critical rotating equipment while mentoring engineers, driving innovation, and delivering advanced electrical engineering solutions for demanding industrial and government applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and analysis of electrical systems for pumps, motors, generators, and rotating equipment.
  • Direct engineering studies, detailed analysis, testing, and product development initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor electrical engineers across multiple engineering projects.
  • Develop and evaluate Electromagnetic Finite Element Analysis (EMFEA) models to predict equipment performance.
  • Create electrical system models for Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), transformers, excitation systems, and control systems.
  • Lead engineering projects by developing schedules, estimating resources, and coordinating technical activities.
  • Conduct engineering experiments, analyze results, and implement innovative design improvements.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, presentations, and design reviews.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, program management, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Support the continuous improvement of engineering processes and product performance.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering required; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical engineering experience involving rotating equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of Electromagnetic Finite Element Analysis (EMFEA), system modeling, acoustics, or thermal analysis.
  • Experience using engineering software including Ansys Maxwell, Simulink, MATLAB, Flux2D, RMXPRT, Mathcad, Simplorer, or similar electrical design tools.
  • Experience leading engineering design teams and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
